my electric darling



Ever since I fell in love with the lamp, my life has sweetened. So what if she singes my wings? Others have singed my heart - at least she's a steadfast mistress, however cruel. Should this desire burn me to a crisp, I can say I've died a happy moth.

My Ever-Elusive



I woke up with a bolt and there she was, as ever, already making a beeline for the door. I grabbed at her but before my fingers could tangle her hair, she melted away. I sighed. I'd never remember it now. She was gone for good, last night's sweet dream.

Rite of Right



I watched my husband standing over my grave. His necromancers stood close, ready.
One sorrowful crow squawked and they began the ritual.
I smiled wanly to myself. Even in life he would summon me, rather than join me himself. And I would go. Simply. Death hadn't changed me at all.

Insufferable

 

"Got one!" she cried triumphantly, lowering her slingshot.
Sure enough, she'd knocked one of the stars out. It hit a cloud and smoldered there.
I'd been trying all evening.
She cheered at herself, adjusting her halo.
I scowled and curled my tail about me.
She'd been insufferable since the fall.
